An annual membership gives you access to hundreds of quality toys, ride-ons, dress-ups, games, and puzzles — perfect for kids from 6 months to 8 years.

Borrow up to 5 toys for 3 weeks (1 renewal available), or hire party equipment for 1 week (additional fees apply).

Simply choose a plan that suits your family: Full Duty, Half Duty, or Non-Duty membership, each offering different levels of duty commitment and pricing to match.

Full Duty Membership

$75/year (less than $2 per week!)

Loans

Members can borrow up to 5 toys for a 3-week loan, with 1 renewal allowed.
Members can renew toys online.
Members with overdue items or unpaid fines may not borrow additional toys.

Returns

Toys must be cleaned and checked for missing pieces before return. Keep any toy with missing parts until found; or a $5 fine or replacement cost applies.
Original packaging must be returned; otherwise, a replacement fee applies.
Overdue toys incur a $5 fine per week.

Party Hire

Party hire items have a 1-week loan period.
All party hire is subject to availability and must be booked in advance.

Use & Care

Members are responsible for any damaged or missing pieces, unless the librarian is notified within 24 hours of borrowing. A $5 fine or replacement cost may apply.
Ride-ons are for children aged 6 and under only.
Toys are for personal use only and must not be borrowed on behalf of others outside your household.
Store toys safely indoors, including those designed for outdoor use.
All toys remain the property of the Onehunga Toy Library.

Annual Stocktake & Summer Holiday Rentals

All toys must be returned by the end of the year (date confirmed annually) for stock take.
Toys may be hired for the summer holiday period for a small fee to support fundraising.

Duty (applicable where a duty membership is applied for)

Duty Members are required to sign up for their assigned duties on the official library calendar as part of both their initial membership registration and any subsequent renewals.
It is advised not to bring children while on duty.
Failure to complete a duty will result in a $30 fee for each missed duty. Non-payment or repeated absences may lead to membership termination.
If unable to fulfill a duty, the member must notify the librarian at least one week in advance or find a replacement.

Health & Safety

Members are responsible for:

Supervising children while using toys.
Ensuring toys are used according to their intended purpose and age suitability.
Reporting any safety concerns, faults, or incidents to the librarian promptly.

While we take all reasonable steps to maintain equipment to a high standard, members acknowledge they are primarily responsible for the safety of their children and family when using toys and equipment, both on and off the premises. Children must be supervised at all times while inside the library.

Privacy Policy

We are required to retain certain personal information for seven (7) years to meet legal, accounting, governance, and regulatory obligations. You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information at any time.

We collect and store Parent/Caregiver contact details to:

Manage memberships and toy loans
Communicate important updates and notices
Organise duty rosters (if applicable)

This information is accessible only to authorised committee members, and employees.

Duty rosters may include member names and be made available to other members for coordination purposes.

Providing optional information—such as a child’s age, gender, and developmental needs—helps us improve our toy selection and better meet the needs of our members.

Termination of Membership

Membership will be deemed resigned if the annual subscription is not paid by the due date. Resigned members remain liable for any unpaid fines, fees, or other outstanding obligations.

Membership may also be terminated at the discretion of the committee for repeated failure to meet library responsibilities (e.g. duties, care of toys, or conduct).

Changes

We may update our membership fees, borrowing charges, or Terms and Conditions from time to time. If we do, we’ll post the changes on our website and let you know by email or at the library. By continuing to use the Onehunga Toy Library after the changes take effect, you agree to the new terms.

Chairperson
Provides leadership and support to the committee, ensuring the Onehunga Toy Library runs effectively and efficiently.
Secretary
Handles administrative tasks for the committee and assists the Chairperson in keeping things running smoothly.
Treasurer
Oversees financial accountability and management, working closely with other committee members to safeguard the organisation's finances.
Grants & Fundraising Officer
Supports the Treasurer in maintaining the financial viability of the Onehunga Toy Library.
Membership Coordinator
Maintains accurate member records, manages roster, and resolves member queries and issues.
Marketing Officer
Promotes the Toy Library via all channels available.
Toy Buyer
Curates and maintains a high-quality, engaging toy collection.
General Committee Member
Attends regular meetings, participates in discussions, and contributes to decision-making.
